Kalon AI: good terms, switched-off product

The clearest ownership clause in this file sits on a service that is not currently generating anything. Both halves of that are findings.

Companion chat 3 of 6 documents read 8.8K name searches / mo

The state of it

Before any clause matters: the operator's own banner, carried on every page of the site including its policy pages, says the AI features are down until further notice and that work has moved to a rebuilt version. Anyone arriving from a search result expecting to use the product today will not be able to.

This is the one thing a desk that only read PDFs would have missed, and it is a decent argument for opening the site itself as part of any check.

What we checked

  1. Terms of service
Who holds rights in what the tool produces?
    Satisfied by
An explicit grant of output rights to the user, and a narrow, stated licence back to the vendor for operating the service.
    Usually found
Silence about the user's rights and a broad perpetual licence to the vendor covering promotion and model training.
    At stake
Publishing anything made with the tool depends entirely on this paragraph, and it is never on the pricing page.
  2. Privacy policy
How long are prompts and generations kept, and can they be deleted?
    Satisfied by
A retention period in days or months, a deletion route that removes rather than flags, and a plain statement about training use.
    Usually found
No period at all, deletion described as account closure, and training use addressed in a sentence that could mean either thing.
    At stake
Prompts in this category are the most sensitive record a consumer service can hold. Indefinite retention turns one breach into a permanent problem.
  3. Support channel
Can a question be asked before any money moves?
    Satisfied by
A channel that answers a pre-sales question — anything from a ticket form to a staffed chat — with a human reply.
    Usually found
A form that routes to nothing, or a help centre whose articles were written for a different product.
    At stake
The channel that will not answer before payment is the channel that will not answer about a renewal.

Three stops answered, three not opened. The one marked contradicted is the support channel, and on this entry it comes before the paperwork rather than after it: the banner saying the features are off was the first thing on the page.

The walk for Kalon AI: 3 of the six documents opened, on 20 October 2026. Each stop restates the finding recorded further down this page, with the page it came from.

What the documents said

3 of the six documents have been opened. Each row gives the page it came from and the date it was read; where a document carries its own last-modified date, that is in the note, because in this category the age of a policy is itself a finding.

Before any document matters: a banner across every page of the site states that all AI features — chat, image and video generation — are down until further notice, with a version 2 promised in the coming months. Whatever the terms say, the product was not operating on the day it was read.

PublishedTerms of service

Explicit on both halves of the question. The user retains ownership of input and owns the output, with the company assigning whatever interest it holds in that output. The licence back is irrevocable and sublicensable but scoped to operating, improving and developing the service, and the terms state it does not extend beyond that. Input and output may be used to train the models, and owning the output confers no right to exploit the service commercially.

No retention period. Data is kept "for as long as reasonably necessary", with a separate CCPA notice referenced for Californian periods.

Contradicted elsewhere Pricing page. The only vendor read here that publishes its limits and its prices without a sign-in: $6.99 a week, $9.90 a month, $59.88 for twelve months, with 100 images and 10 videos a month on Premium. The same page then states the free allowance twice, as five chat turns on the plan card and ten turns per character in the table, and the Premium allowance twice, as unlimited on the card and 1,000 turns in total in the table.
Published Terms of service. Effective 2 December 2025, with the operator named and a contact address in the document. The user owns what they generate, and the licence running back is perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable and transferable — and extends beyond operating the service to promotion and advertising.
Published Privacy policy. No retention period: the policy gives the factors it weighs instead, which is the same answer six of the eight catalogued vendors give. Chats and user content are used to train the models and are monitored for compliance, and the policy says so plainly rather than burying it.
Contradicted elsewhere Content policy. The community guidelines are the strongest of any vendor read here: eighteen and over, no character presented as younger than that and no aged-up rewrite of one, no sexualised depictions of real people without consent, human and automated review. The public tag list then carries jk, a Japanese abbreviation that denotes exactly the age bracket those guidelines rule out.
Published Checkout and cancellation. Card only, with other methods described as coming. Cancellation any time, with access running to the end of the billing cycle and no further charge — stated on the page where the subscription is sold rather than in a separate document.
Contradicted elsewhere Support channel. A support address is published, which several vendors here do not manage. Two of them, in fact: the terms give one address and the community guidelines give the same mailbox at a different domain.

Questions

Is Kalon AI still working?
Not on 20 October 2026. A banner across every page of its own site states that all AI features — chat, image and video generation — are down until further notice, with a version 2 promised in the coming months. That is the operator's own wording, not an inference from a failed request.
Then why is there an entry at all?
Because the name carries search demand and people arriving at it deserve to know before they get as far as a payment page. A service being switched off is the single most useful thing a check can report, and it is the kind of thing only visiting the site catches.
What do the terms say about ownership?
That you retain ownership of your input and own the output, with the company assigning whatever interest it holds in that output. The licence back is irrevocable but scoped to operating, improving and developing the service, which is the narrow shape rather than the broad one.
Any catch in that?
Two. Input and output may be used to train the models, stated plainly. And owning the output grants no right to exploit the service commercially, so ownership here is personal rather than commercial.
