How do you choose without a ranking?
By doing what a ranking would have to do first, for the two or three products you are actually considering. It takes about twenty minutes each and it survives the next price change, which no listicle does.
One: decide the shape
Before any vendor matters, settle whether the work needs conversation, stills, motion from your own frame, or clips from a description. Those four have unit costs an order of magnitude apart, and buying the wrong one is the most expensive error available here. The overview check sorts them by the billing unit, which is the most reliable signal of what a product really is.
Two: walk the six documents
- Pricing pageAre the limits stated in units a buyer can count?
- Satisfied by
- Clip length in seconds, resolution in pixels, generations per day as a number, queue priority described in words that mean something.
- Usually found
- A credit balance with no stated conversion, and the word unlimited somewhere above a fair-use clause that contradicts it.
- At stake
- This is the difference between a subscription that finishes work and one that runs out on a Tuesday.
- Terms of serviceWho holds rights in what the tool produces?
- Satisfied by
- An explicit grant of output rights to the user, and a narrow, stated licence back to the vendor for operating the service.
- Usually found
- Silence about the user's rights and a broad perpetual licence to the vendor covering promotion and model training.
- At stake
- Publishing anything made with the tool depends entirely on this paragraph, and it is never on the pricing page.
- Privacy policyHow long are prompts and generations kept, and can they be deleted?
- Satisfied by
- A retention period in days or months, a deletion route that removes rather than flags, and a plain statement about training use.
- Usually found
- No period at all, deletion described as account closure, and training use addressed in a sentence that could mean either thing.
- At stake
- Prompts in this category are the most sensitive record a consumer service can hold. Indefinite retention turns one breach into a permanent problem.
- Content policyWhat is prohibited, and is likeness transfer named?
- Satisfied by
- A published list of prohibited categories, with material involving real people's likenesses explicitly among them.
- Usually found
- A policy that bans the obvious and stays quiet about likeness, which is the one that decides whether the operator survives the year.
- At stake
- An operator vague about likeness is an operator one enforcement action away from taking your purchased credits down with it.
- Checkout and cancellationWhat appears on the statement, and how does a subscription end?
- Satisfied by
- The billing descriptor published before payment, renewal terms stated in the flow, and cancellation available from inside the account.
- Usually found
- An undisclosed descriptor, a trial that upgrades to annual, and cancellation by email to an address answered in business days.
- At stake
- Subscription disputes are the most common complaint in adult services, and every one of them was decided at checkout.
- Support channelCan a question be asked before any money moves?
- Satisfied by
- A channel that answers a pre-sales question — anything from a ticket form to a staffed chat — with a human reply.
- Usually found
- A form that routes to nothing, or a help centre whose articles were written for a different product.
- At stake
- The channel that will not answer before payment is the channel that will not answer about a renewal.
Three: score what you found
No weighting scheme, no points out of ten. Count how many of the six questions the vendor answered in its own published material, and treat every unanswered one as the restrictive case. Two vendors are usually separated by this before any question of output quality arises.
| Answered | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Five or six | An operation that expects to be here next year and has had the processor conversation |
| Three or four | Normal for the category. Assume the restrictive reading of the gaps and budget for it |
| Two or fewer | You are buying on a landing page. Treat the subscription as disposable |
Verdict
Disclosure is the only comparable signal
Output quality cannot be compared from outside, changes with every model update, and is the thing every vendor optimises its gallery for. What a vendor publishes about limits, rights, retention and cancellation is stable, checkable, and predicts the experience of being a customer far better than a sample video does.

Questions
- Where is the list of the best tools?
- There isn't one here. A ranking is a claim that products were measured the same way, and in this category the measurements are mostly unpublished and change within a quarter. What survives longer is the method a ranking would have to be built from, which is what this page is.
- How long does this take?
- Twenty minutes per vendor, most of it in the terms and the privacy policy. That is less time than most people spend watching sample galleries, and it answers questions the galleries cannot.
- What if a vendor publishes nothing?
- Then you have your answer. Silence in this category is not an oversight: a generous limit is a selling point and gets printed. An unpublished number is almost always the restrictive one.
